    Mentoring and Training Narrative

Research interests: 1. Surgical Education: I am Associate Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program and responsible for the assessment and evaluation of the residents. We have recently implemented the concept of EPAs (entrustable professional activities) into the training program. We are studying the role of the EPAs in gaining graded autonomy for residents, incorporating the concept of nested EPAs. 2. Quality and Safety: I am the Medical Director of Surgical Quality and Safety at the children's hospital and involved in interdisciplinary process improvement projects as identified by the Pediatric Periop PIPS committee, of which I am chair. 3. Long-term follow-up for pediatric surgical patients: I am the surgeon lead for the LIFE program (Long-term infant to adult follow and evaluation), aimed at understanding the long-term outcomes for children who have had surgically corrected congenital anomaly.
