Diana Farmer in OR

Welcome to UCSF Pediatric Surgery and the Bay Area Pediatric Surgeons, the premier Pediatric Surgical Practice for the Bay Area and beyond.  Our world-renowned surgeons are dedicated to the care of children, providing expert surgical care of fetuses, infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired conditions.  As the only Pediatric Surgical practice in San Francisco, we provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care at the UCSF Children's Hospital, California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), and Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, in addition to teaching and conducting clinical research as full-time faculty at the UCSF School of Medicine.  Delivering state of the art treatment, our surgeons are also world-renowned leaders specializing in such fields as pediatric surgical oncology, minimally invasive surgery, and birth defects.

This practice has a long, noble tradition, started by Dr. Al deLorimier, the first academic pediatric surgeon in Northern California, and Dr. Michael Harrison, the inventor and "Father of fetal surgery."  Dr. Harrison and our team of experts founded the UCSF Fetal Treatment Center and Birth Defects Center of Excellence (FTC), providing care to babies before and after birth. As the birth place of fetal surgery, the FTC unites the talents of specialists in fetal surgery, genetics, obstetrics/perinatology, radiology, nursing, and neonatal medicine to coordinate and provide inclusive care to tiny patients in the womb.  Our LIFE (Long-Term Infant-to-Adult Follow-Up and Evaluation) Clinic now provides life-long multidisciplinary follow-up care for children surviving and thriving with birth defects.

The surgeons, together with our excellent staff, are committed to providing groundbreaking, comprehensive, and compassionate care for our patients and their families.  Please browse our website for details regarding our services and expertise and to get acquainted with our outstanding staff and programs.

With Regards,

Diana Farmer
